Shiitake Mushroom

Shiitake Mushroom is one of the healthiest foods on the planet.

Shiitake mushrooms have been around since prehistoric times. For thousands of years, they have played a major role in traditional medicine all over Asia, where they are originated.

As I will not give health advises, on my site, because I am not a doctor, I can really recommend you to Google “shiitake mushroom health benefit”.

The name Shiitake Mushroom comes from Japanese. “Shii” refers to the name of the tree they originally grow on in nature and “také” means mushroom.  

Shiitake mushrooms have been known to be cultivated in China since 1100 AD.

Shiitake was not cultivated in the USA before the 1970s. There had been a ban on growing the Mushroom until then. 

Shiitake Mushroom was banned because it was confused with another fungus that attacks railroad ties.

It is today the 2. most cultivated mushroom.
